Keeping Employees Knowledgeable and Confident - Banking on Business

Episode 1

Training your bank employees can sometimes feel like a never-ending task. When it comes to growing your training program, you want them to be knowledgeable and able to handle any customer situation, but you also don’t want to overwhelm them with too much information at once.

In this 1st episode of Banking on Business, Grace Bruins is joined by Kerry Murphy, a Retail Training Officer at Horicon Bank. Tune in to this episode and hear about Kerry’s interesting background and how she trains an employee.

Highlights

04:04 – My favorite thing is getting to know everyone that works here. Not only do I train for every location, I work with every department so even people that I don’t train, we touch in some ways.

05:51 – The model I used is called VARK, so there are 4 different types of learning styles: Visual, Audio, Reading, Kinesthetics.

06:43 – I am a solid mix of Visual and Kinesthetics and that makes perfect sense to me because I like to watch something and then do it.

14:10 – Learning styles vary with your team, your family, with the people in your life, so just be aware of that and the awareness that we’re not all looking at something the same way and keep that in mind.
