It Always Starts with Trust
Horicon Bank’s Trust Administration Office isn't your typical operation. We work with your attorney and preferred financial advisor to offer comprehensive administrative trust services.
We are one of the first community banks in the Midwest to offer this service without requiring you to work with a specific financial advisor. As an independent trustee, Horicon Bank works with the advisor you choose, all while offering the support of a strong financial partner.
We work with individuals and families as a trustee, personal representative/executor, power of attorney or agent. We are primarily serving in these roles as an independent trustee in Wisconsin and Illinois.
What is a Professional Corporate Trustee?
A corporate trustee is a company that you designate to manage your finances as you indicated in the documents you executed with your attorney.
Simply put: our goal is to be sure your last wishes are carried out.
The main benefits of naming a company over any individual are as follows:
- Documentation - Documentation is critical for anyone in a fiduciary role to carry out their duties, so it is important to keep everything up to date. For instance, if you loan money to someone and you want that to come out of their share, you’ll want to document the loan appropriately with your attorney.
- Impartiality – There is no history and there are no grudges that are carried forward.
- Disclosure – Beneficiaries are provided an accounting of what has taken place. Professionals are audited whereas individual trustees consisting of family members and non-family members may not be subject to the same type of oversight.
