Phone Scam Affecting Horicon Bank Customers

Scammers are back at it!

This time, they’re targeting our customers claiming to be Horicon Bank or Shazam (our debit card provider) and asking for personal information over the phone. These fraudsters have even gone so far as to spoof our phone number to make the call look like it’s coming from Horicon Bank!

The narrative of the phone call changes a bit, but the scammer has been telling our customers that their account has been compromised and the customer needs to confirm account information (account number, username for digital banking, passwords, etc.) to confirm ownership of the account. Although each call is a little different, they share these similarities:

  • Customer receives notifications from people claiming to be either from Horicon Bank or Shazam (numbers have been spoofed to make it seem believable to the customer).
  • The scammer will ask for personal identifiable information over the phone.
  • The scammer claims that there is fraudulent activity, and need to confirm account number, debit card number, online banking credentials, etc. to confirm the identification of the individual as the account holder.

If you, a loved one or friend receive a text message, phone call or email that is similar to what is listed above, stop communication and get in touch with someone from Horicon Bank immediately. Call us directly at 888.343.3040 if you have questions about your account.
